August 10, 2022: Capitec Bank Experienced Outage on Its App
Capitec Bank’s digital service, including its mobile app, experienced an outage from last Thursday morning to last Saturday morning. Now the service has been restored. According to Capitec, an internal infrastructure issue affected the central servers of the system and led to the outage. Capitec Bank will continue to upgrade and test its system to make sure it won’t happen again.

March 1, 2022: New banking fees
Capitec Bank has announced its updated banking fee schedule for the 2022/23 financial year. The bank has increased the cash withdrawal fees and the monthly admin fee of its Global One account from March 1st. The Global One Account’s monthly fee has increased from R5.00 to R6.50 per month, while the cash withdrawal fees have increased to R8.00 per R1,000 at Capitec ATMs and R10.00 per R1,000 at other bank ATMs.
July 27, 2021: Cashless payment comes with a scan
Capitec will develop a peer-to-peer QR codes function as early as the beginning of next year, said Capitec chief executive Gerrie Fourie during a PSG webinar on July 27. People can directly pay or receive money via QR codes in the app without using cards or cash, marking a giant step to a cashless society.
